As a volunteer at Khulula you take full responsibility for the daily needs of the animals. Your day starts early, as you usually complete the first feeding round for the animals before sitting down for your own breakfast! Throughout a busy day you will help with preparing the food for the animals at the centre, cleaning their enclosures, building enrichment structures and helping with the rehabilitation process. And if you sign up to be “mum” to orphaned infant wildlife, there might well be some midnight feeds on the cards too!
While taking care of a large number and variety of animals, Khulula operates with only a small team of core staff. The centre and its animals rely 100% on the volunteers shouldering real responsibility and helping with all the hands-on work.
You will learn a great amount about wildlife care and animal behaviour and nutrition. Volunteering at Khulula Care for Wild is hard work but you will be rewarded with extraordinary wildlife experiences as you develop a close relationship with the animals in your care.
