African Conservation Experience can organise your voluntary placement in southern Africa, working alongside professionals with big game and marine mammals on projects of real conservation value.
The placements
Volunteers work in close association with marine biologists, conservationists, wildlife vets and reserve managers on a variety of projects. This is the chance of a lifetime to:
- Capture game for tagging and relocation
- Monitor wild elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and baboon populations
- Increase your knowledge of African wildlife on a Game Ranger Guide course
- Experience life as a wildlife vet
- Care for injured and orphaned animals
- Work alongside marine biologists learning whale and dolphin research techniques
- Volunteer as a family
- Use horses to monitor endangered game and track cheetah on foot
You are fully supported throughout your placement. Flights, transfers, meals and accommodation are all arranged for you and contact is maintained throughout your stay.
"Helping vaccinate 30 buffalo against TB was a daunting experience and taking the temperature of a lioness while the rest of her pride circled us was pretty hair raising... If you are prepared to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in, this type of project will be the most hands-on, invigorating and rewarding experience that you could wish for."
Sarah Brookes
"African Conservation Experience were brilliant, I felt reassured to have travel arrangements and a support team behind me."
