Experience MexECO

Experience MexECO logo - click here to visit their site Experience MexECO provides voluntary placements in conservation, teaching and community development, in Mexico.

The placements

Projects include:
  • Teaching English
  • Acting as a teaching assistant in a special needs school
  • Community fundraising
  • Sea turtle conservation

These projects provide the chance to gain valuable experience in teaching, sciences and the Spanish language, as well as the independence that comes with taking part in such a project.

All projects are in small, local communities, supporting locally-run programmes, and the conservation projects are ecologically sustainable. You will work in conjunction with community leaders and groups to help towards projects they want to complete. Experience MexECO also help out in many local fundraising events and are part of a local fundraising committee for needy children.

Location

The Pacific coast of Mexico, between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo.

For turtle conservation you will be staying in tents underneath a palm leaf shelter about 50 metres from the beach. Local facilities close by are everything a normal small town would have: internet, food and supply shops.

Volunteers on community projects will be also staying in a town with plenty of facilities. You will only be 10 or so blocks from the warm and tranquil waters of the Bahía de Navidad.

How long?

Projects are ongoing, and you can choose their own start and finish dates. The minimum length is one month (except for turtle conservation); the longest stay offered is 6 months (180 days), in accordance with Mexican laws.
