Global Volunteer Network

The Global Volunteer Network is a New Zealand-based organisation which places volunteers in community-run projects.

The projects

The Global Volunteer Network's vision is to support the work of local community organisations in developing countries through the placement of international volunteers. They believe that local communities are in the best position to determine their needs, and provide volunteers to help them achieve their goals.

Global Volunteer Network provides a wide range of opportunities with community groups, including:

  • community development
  • health/medical
  • teaching
  • working with orphans
  • animal rehabilitation
  • maintenance and construction
  • environmental restoration and conservation

Global Volunteer Network aims to provide real, flexible and affordable opportunities.

Countries

Examples of Global Volunteer Network programmes include working with AIDS-affected communities in Uganda, caring for orphans in Rwanda or Romania, environmental restoration in the Galapagos Islands, teaching English to Massi in Kenya, working with the Sioux youth in South Dakota, and conservation work in New Zealand. A wide variety of programmes is available in 21 countries.
