From Samba to surfing, rebuilding community centres to devising marketing plans for women’s co-operatives, career breaks with Jingando Holidays are flexible and varied but always rewarding. Jingando offers two kinds of career breaks: group trips and individual programmes designed just for you.

The programmes

Group trips run for 5 to 15 people, with a set itinerary designed to make your two weeks in Brazil as rich, fulfilling and life-changing as possible! All group trips include participation in a local community project.

On individual trips you can choose from learning or volunteering.

Learning projects include:

Portuguese
Brazilian dance (Samba, Forró, Lambada (Zouk), Funk, Afro-Brazilian dance)
Brazilian music and percussion
Capoeira
Surfing
Beach Volleyball

Volunteering projects include:

Renovation and development
Teaching dance, music, computing, drama, health education, arts and crafts, carpentry and more to children OR adults within low income communities
Developing sales, marketing and business development strategies for social enterprises and co-operatives
Looking after animals in one of Brazil’s largest abandoned cats and dogs homes

All trips offer the possibility to focus on just one element, or to combine as many as you wish, plus you have the option of adding excursions etc. Jingando Holidays will work with you to build a programme for your time out that suits you exactly.

Location

Most trips are based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Set between mountains, sea and rainforest, it is one of the world’s most stunningly located cities, and there is a buzz in the air you can feel from the moment you arrive.

Accommodation is based in Santa Teresa, the prettiest, most relaxed area of Rio, full of old world charm with colonial mansions and cobbled streets. It is also centrally located, with excellent transport links for getting around the city.

How long?

Group trips run for two weeks. Departure dates for are:

June 14th 2008
August 9th 2008
20th December 2008
11th February 2009

Individual trips can be for any length of time, from a week to a year, and departure dates are completely flexible.

Pricing

Two week group trips cost from £949 to £1,699. Individual trips cost from £399 for one week and from £699 for one month, dependent on length of stay, itinerary and accommodation option.
