Nexos Voluntarios
Nexos Voluntarios offers career breakers a range of volunteer opportunities in Peru.
The placements
The Career Breakers programme is designed for professional adults who would like to take a break from the treadmill and volunteer in Peru. Depending on what you would like from your volunteer experience, you may choose to either relax with a hands-on service project or contribute your valued knowledge and expertise to a local NGO. The projects they currently have available range in purpose. You may choose to work in an area of education, public health, environment, business and development, or human rights.
As a volunteer, you will live in Lima, Urubamba or Piura and share your day-to-day life with the locals. This program gives volunteers the chance to use their time and skills to contribute to the development of Peru while also growing personally by working with community members and experiencing a new environment and way of life.
Your daily schedule will include volunteering during the day 4 or 5 days a week, Spanish classes in the evenings 2 days a week, cultural activities on Fridays and on the weekends, and plenty of time to get engaged in the surrounding culture.
Locations
NeVo operates in Peru in the cities of Lima, Urubamba, and Piura. You will live with a host family in order to maximize your Spanish skills and adaptation to the culture. The climate ranges depending on the city. In Lima, where the majority of the projects are, the weather is hot (80F) and sunny from December-April or May, and cool (60F) and cloudy from May-November.
How long?
The minimum length of stay is 2 weeks for a Career Breakers programme. You may stay up to a year (or more if you would like to continue with your project). You will coordinate the start date with NeVo coordinators.
Pricing
Career Breakers programmes begin at $1,870 for 2 weeks. This price includes airport transfer, Spanish classes, homestay, 1-2 meals per day, cultural activities (visits to museums, nature reserves, dance classes, etc.), access to medical assistance, 24-hour emergency contact, and all necessary expenses involved with the project.
