Plas Menai offers you the chance to train and qualify as a watersports instructor.

The courses

Plas Menai runs training courses designed to equip students with the skills and qualifications necessary to gain employment within the watersports industry. The centre runs 4 work-focused courses:

Watersports Instructor
Sailing and Windsurfing Instructor
Fast-track Powerboat Instructor
Professional Yachtmaster

The qualifications are internationally-recognised, opening up a world of opportunities for those wanting to travel and work abroad.

Location

Situated on the beautiful Menai Strait in North Wales, nestled between Snowdonia and the sea, Plas Menai is located amidst one of the UK’s best adventure playgrounds offering an unrivalled diversity of training locations for its students. Students on the winter Watersports Instructor and Sailing and Windsurfing Instructor courses also travel to Dahab, Egypt for two weeks of intensive skills training.

Prices

Courses are fully residential and include full board and single room accommodation in our on-site shared houses. Course fees also include free use of the centres facilities, access to external courses in your spare time at no extra charge and free internet access. Exam fees and log books are also included.

About Plas Menai National Watersports Centre

Plas Menai is owned and operated by Sports Council Wales and is celebrating its 25th birthday in 2008. The centre was the first to deliver a training course designed specifically as a gateway into the industry and is recognised as one of the leading providers of instructional staff to the watersports industry. As well as professional career training, Plas Menai also runs over 120 different activity courses throughout the year for all levels from beginner to the more advanced.
