Case study – Rachel
Rachel Morgan-Trimmer works for SugarCat Publishing, the company which runs this website. She spent 4 months travelling around the world last year, even though she's afraid of flying!"I'd always wanted to travel, but I kept putting it off – it was too expensive and I was too frightened! Eventually though, I thought if 'I don't go now, I never will,' so I saved some money, resigned from my job and packed my bags.
When I first set off, I was really anxious about everything – I'd heard so many horror stories, and I didn't think I was really cut out for adventure. But within the first two weeks, I started to relax, and found that everything was much easier than I expected. Almost everyone I met was kind and helpful.
I went to South-East Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the USA. I travelled alone which I found to be the best way – I met so many people and made tons of new friends. I missed my boyfriend but he came out to see me in Australia.
I'm much more confident now, and I have some amazing memories. I'm glad I didn't let fear rob me of such a wonderful experience."
Rachel kept a blog while she was travelling. Read it here
