What to do with your stuff
If you're anything like the average career breaker, you'll have a whole lot of stuff that needs to be dealt with while you're on your career break. Here's where we can help.
There are sections on:
What to do with your house, whether you want to:
- rent it out (the most popular option)
- sell it
- leave it unoccupied
- use a housesitter
What to do with your car, which has information on selling it, lending it to a friend or putting into specialist storage.
What to do with your pets - most career breakers lend their pets to a friend.
What to do with your possessions, including information on:
Back up your computer
If you're going away for any length of time, it's a good idea to back up all the data on your computer, either onto a CD if you don't have much, or onto an external hard drive. Store your backup in a separate location from your computer. Also, if someone else has access to your computer while you're away, consider if you should set up a separate account on it for them, and password-protect your own one.
