Use a housesitter
Professional housesitters can be very expensive, so they're really only an option if you're going away for a very short time (weeks, not months) and/or are very rich. Costs vary, but they are about £30 a day.
Advantages of using a professional housesitter:
- Great if you have lots of pets - housesitters are used to taking care of pets
- Someone is looking after your house
- Professional housesitters are managed by their agency, meaning no guests without your permission, keeping the place clean etc
When using a professional housesitter, make sure you're clear about the charges - is it a flat daily rate? Does it cost more for an extra dog? Are you expected to provide any allowances?
It is possible to find a housesitter who won't charge, but they don't offer the same security as a professional sitter (even if you already know them).
