When you're on a career break, the world is your oyster. Where you go will partly depend on what you want to do of course (not a right lot of skiing in the tropics), and other things like time, money and whether or not you have a mate there you can stay with.
Choose a region guide from the menu on the left, or read on for tips:
- If you want to travel round the world, be aware that your ticket will have some restrictions. Read more about round-the-world travel here.
- Decide how much time you want to spend on or off the beaten track. Being with other travellers is a great way of making friends and staying safe, but you might want to do your own thing too. A good compromise is to go with an adventure travel company who can take you off the tourist trail safely.
- Don't pay too much attention to the 'best time to go' (unless it's crucial for your activity, eg a conservation project, teaching in term time or ski season). Off-season is generally cheaper and you'll can end up with a more interesting experience, plus you will be supporting local businesses at a quiet time.
- Travel with an open mind!
