PHOTO CORNER - YOUR MONTHLY DOSE OF INSPIRATION

Did you know Australia is the most popular career break destination? Here are 55 fab pics of this amazing country.

VIDEO CORNER - YOUR MONTHLY DOSE OF OMG

A whale shark is freed from a fishing net in Indonesia - surprisingly calm video considering it's all tangled up.

ON THE BLOG

Guest post from Azafady - about doing conservation research at night! Includes some nice pics.

Newly CBS-approved company Helping Kenya also wrote us a guest post, on where the money goes when you're volunteering abroad. It's really rare to get this level of insight from an organisation so it's definitely worth a read.

We've also got a guest post from an Australian, on 5 signs that tell you to pursue a different career.

Inspired by a fellow traveller's tale of a cancelled flight causing him to miss his plane, we wrote a useful guide on how to complain when travelling. This means 'complain' as in 'get a problem fixed or your money back' not 'whinge to anyone who will listen'.

Finally, on a lighter note, here are the 46 worst travelling companions, as defined by us. And yes, we are some of these.

Email info@thecareerbreaksite.com if you want to be interviewed, or to submit a guest post. If the latter, please read our guest post guidelines before contacting us. Thanks!

TIP OF THE MONTH

If you're planning to drink alcohol on your career break, check your travel insurance to see how it handles drink-related claims. You don't want to find they won't pay your medical bills because you had a beer before falling off that wall.

This tip was nicked from finance advice site Savvy Woman.

If you have a question or tip for us, email info@thecareerbreaksite.com - we will credit you unless you want to stay anonymous.

CAREER BREAK, TRAVEL AND WORK NEWS ROUND-UP

According to YouGov, a fifth of workers are planning to pull a sickie to watch the Olympics. Which is weird when you consider that over half of employers are making efforts to be flexible enough to allow workers to watch it. As the article we linked to states, skiving off can get you into serious trouble. And yeah, you will get caught.

Turkey, Cyprus and Portugal have topped the list of places to get fat in. More specifically, the top ten countries for holiday weight gain. Who would have thought that fried cheese and kebabs would make you put on weight?!

India has banned 'tiger tourism' - forbidding tourists from entering parks where tigers are protected. They claim it's to help protect tigers, but the tourism industry is unhappy with the move, pointing out that tourists bring in money and help deter poachers.

You have probably heard about the 11-year-old kid who managed to get on a flight to Rome without a ticket or passport. He gave an interview to the Sun, somewhat inexplicably claiming he was just looking for the toilet.

JOKE

This enforcement of the Olympics brand is getting a bit out of hand. You only have to mention London, the games or 2012 and lawyers appear at your d

FINALLY

If you want more career break stuff than these monthly updates, you can follow us on Twitter or like us on Facebook. We don't spam, clog your feed or do anything else that we ourselves find annoying. And we always answer you if you talk to us!

Until next time, enjoy (avoiding) the games, and let's hope for more sunshine.

Love,
