HELLO

How are you? Enjoying the summer? We have a sterling round-up of stuff for you today - from blog posts, to free stuff, to new career breaks, plus extra photo posts because we know you like a bit of inspiration in the middle of the working week! Remember, you can always drop us a line if there's something else you want to see in this newsletter, but for now, get stuck in and have a good read.

SPONSORED FEATURE: PROJECTS ABROAD NOW WORKING IN UGANDA

Join Projects Abroad in their newest destination – Uganda. You can get involved by teaching English in schools or volunteering on a care project in day care centres, kindergartens and orphanages.

Projects Abroad is based in Uganda’s second largest town, Jinja, on the shores of the beautiful Lake Victoria. You will be staying with a local host family, allowing you to become immersed in the Ugandan culture and way of life.

This is a great chance to volunteer and experience one of Africa’s most stunning countries.

Visit Projects Abroad Uganda to find out more.

**FREE ONLINE EVENT: PORTABLE CAREERS - HOW TO WORK WHILE YOU TRAVEL**

We're co-hosting a FREE, live webinar with our friends at HouseSit Match on Thursday 31st July at 6:30pm (that's tomorrow if you're reading this as soon as you get it!).

The subject is "Portable careers - how to work while you travel". More than just how to earn money while you are on the road, it will cover how to minimise your costs at the same time.

Our last webinar got rave reviews from attendees, who said it provided lots of useful info; so, if you're planning to work, travel and save money, you can't afford to miss it!

Register now and we'll see you tomorrow. :)

MORE FREE STUFF AND OFFERS

Free satnav for driving abroad (it's offline, that's why it's free)

Free chapter of a book on how to travel solo in Australia - very useful if it's your first time to Oz.

A day of data for a couple of quid from O2 when you're travelling in Europe and need to post stuff on Facebook all the time.

And finally... FREE BACON!

We put these freebies and offers in the newsletter as a service to you, our lovely readers - no-one pays us to include them.

NEW AND UPDATED CAREER BREAKS

Here are all our new and updated career breaks.

PHOTO CORNER - YOUR MONTHLY DOSE OF INSPIRATION

Wow, have we got a treat for you this month - not one, not two, but THREE links to fantastic photos.

First up is this article about Mauritius which includes loads of breath-taking photos. Quite an interesting read too, if you can tear yourself away from the pics!

We do tend to include more landscape and nature photos in our newsletter, but we couldn't resist these amazing photos of Istanbul's mosques. Beautiful pictures of beautiful buildings.

Finally, we have awesome pictures of the Lost City of Shicheng - so lost, in fact, that's it's underwater! You can visit it if you know how to dive.

VIDEO CORNER

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office sent us a link to this video about car thieves abroad. It has real footage of people getting their cars nicked - scary stuff! But as they say, forewarned is forearmed. Watch it.

ON THE BLOG

First up, we have an interactive map of Brits in trouble abroad, showing where people came a-cropper, and what kind of cropperness it was (getting arrested, ending up in hospital etc).

We have a guest post from Debbie Flowers who is currently volunteering in Ethiopia with VSO. She gives us a fascinating insight into what life in Ethiopia is like.

There's a round-up of the information, tips and advice from our most recent webinar - which is a must-read if you're planning to housesit on your career break.

And finally, a horror story from a career breaker who rented out his house while he went away. Learn from his mistakes!

All these, and the rest of our blog posts, can be found here: http://www.thecareerbreaksite.com/blog. If there's anything you'd like to see us cover on the blog, hit reply and let us know!

NEW SECTION: ELSEWHERE ON THE INTERWEB

We did a guest post for Traveldudes on the 5 most unusual volunteer projects in Africa. It's amazing the range of things you can do - this post covers, yoghurt, human rights, showbiz, monkeys and poo!

TIP OF THE MONTH

Take a party trick or fun skill with you when travelling. Whether it's being able to do someone's hair, make a Marlboro man out of a fag packet or do a spot-on impression of an international celebrity - this is a quick way of making friends, even if you don't speak the same language.

If you have a tip for us, email info@thecareerbreaksite.com - we will credit you unless you want to stay anonymous.

FUN THING

A stupid quiz to find out... what stupid quiz you are. Take the quiz now!

JOKE

"I live in Switzerland."

"Do you like it?"

"Well the flag's a big plus."

FINALLY

We know a lot of you look forward to this newsletter and click away on all the stuff we round up for you. We just wanted to say thanks - we appreciate you taking the time to read this, and give us your feedback. Remember, this newsletter is sent out by a real person who isn't drunk all of the time, so if you hit reply, your email will be read and almost certainly replied to.

Love,

The Career Break Site
