Be part of a unique living experience in the UK's capital as part of the L'Arche London community. L'Arche London is 100 people, with and without learning disabilities, who live and work together. In a city of 8 million people, we're a place to belong.

When you come to L'Arche as a paid volunteer, you will share a house with people with learning disabilities, supporting them to live life to the full in one of the most exciting cities in the world. Each day is different, but all involve caring for people with varying needs in all sorts of ways. You'll be trained so you don't need to have experience.

As well as the two craft workshops and a garden project, L'Arche has established partnerships with London's art galleries, arts organisations and disability sports networks. There aren't many other jobs where you can go to the cinema, do arts and crafts, garden, and laugh and joke with some of the most amazing people you'll ever meet!

You'll get all the training you need to support people in their day-to-day lives, assisting them with all their practical, physical and emotional needs, enabling them to make choices and be independent. All Assistants take part in a personal development programme which provides time and space during your year to reflect on your experiences.

L'Arche London recognises that everyone - with or without a learning disability - has as much to give as receive, so whatever your stage of life, background, age or experience, join us for a year as a L'Arche Assistant, supporting people with learning disabilities to build a community where everyone can belong.

Living with those with learning disabilities has taught me a kind of humility and to be grateful for the simple things.
Adam, former L'Arche London Assistant.
