L’Arche Bognor Regis is a vibrant, growing, international, ecumenical Christian community of people with and without learning disabilities who live and work together. As a live-in assistant you will be at the very heart of the L’Arche Bognor Regis Community, entering mutually transforming relationships with people with learning disabilities, enabling them to make the most of their full potential.
As a L'Arche assistant you will support community members with learning disabilities in their daily lives, promoting and enabling choice, independence and self determination through practical, physical and emotional support. British and foreign volunteers are welcome, as are those of all faiths and none.
You will be given all the training you need for the job, including opportunities to gain formal qualifications in care and support if you wish. Our formation programme for assistants provides you with the space to reflect on your experiences and your journey through your year.
L'Arche Bognor offers people with learning disabilities a wide range of activities including gardening, pottery, candle making, groups for reading aloud, gentle exercise, dance and drama, as well as days of reflection, retreats and pilgrimages.
As well as living in the sunniest place in the UK, with some of the most amazing people you will ever meet, you'll find yourself transformed by the experience, with a new outlook on life.
